The first Guildford Circle meeting of the New Year and of a New Decade was held at Guildford Golf Club on January 8th 2020. There were fifty two Guildford Brothers in attendance together with two Visiting Gentlemen: Paul McMahon and Jason Saliba. Also in attendance were two Visiting Brothers: Provincial President Bro. Dominic O'Shea of Purley Circle and Provincial Charity Officer Bro. David Fincham of Runnymede Circle. Guildford was also pleased to welcome Fr Dunstan of Chilworth Abbey who has become a regular visitor.
The meeting commenced at the usual time of 7.30 pm and in addition to the usual circle business, Bro. Secretary, Glan Thomas, asked the brothers to vote on two matters. Firstly, the Council's recommendations for new Circle Officers for the coming year which were unanimously agreed by a show of hands. Secondly, a vote on a proposal from Provincial Council to increase Capitiation Fees from £2.50 to £3.00. This was also unanimously agreed.
Following the somewhat extended meeting, the gathering retired immediately to the dining room where, during dinner, Bro. John Williams was presented with a scroll to mark his thirty years with the Association. Finally, with the assistance of our Webmaster, Bro. Ken Pierre, Fr Dunstan gave a video presentation on the small community of Benedictine Monks at the Krist Buase Monastry of the Subiaco-Cassinese Congregation in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana.
