At the end of August 2019, Guildford Catenians and their Ladies organised a three day visit to the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham. The Party stayed in the Retreat House in the Village and the photograph below shows them in front of the Catholic Church of the Assumption which is next door! It is also next to the Red Lion Pub. How convenient and what a blessing!
The Group attended the Pilgrim's Masses, Stations of the Cross, Benediction and Reconciliation at the Catholic Shrine and Evening Prayer at the Church in the Village. There were also opportunities to visit the Anglican Shrine and the Abbey Gardens where the ruins of the original 'House of Our Lady' are commemorated. Guildford President Andy Fogel said: ''One of the highlights of the weekend was the procession from the village to the Catholic Shrine carrying a statue of Our Lady of Walsingham on our shoulders whilst singing hymns and reciting the Rosary.''
He continued: ''It was a very spititual and relaxing weekend. For those who were unable to attend it provided an opportunity to remind them of the Dowry Tour of the Statue of Our Lady of Walsingham when it visits Arundel Cathedral at the end of November.''
