August 2022 Circle Meeting

The August meeting of the Guildford Catenians was held on Wenesday the 3rd at Clandon Regis Golf Club. Despite being bang in the middle of the holiday season and on an evening where temperature and humidity were more akin to the Far East, there was a good turn-out. If my calculations are correct from the sign-up register there were in attendance thirty six Guildford brothers, five visiting gentlemen and one clergy, Fr Tristan Cranfield.

The main business of the evening was the enrolment of visiting Gentleman Jan Gatowski. Please see below a selection of photographs taken on the night.

Visiting Gentleman Jan Gatowski with Bro. Steve Rowden. Are you sure you want to go through with this Jan?

There's still time to change your mind!

The point of no return!

Welcome Brother!

Is it nearly time to go? Not yet Father!

Bro. Geoff has always over exaggerated things!

He's not the only one!

Surely it's time to go! Not just yet Father!

A funny thing happened on my way to the meeting!

A few words from Bro. President

It must be close to finishing time?

It is at last! Goodnight and God bless!

Guildford Catenians Family Bar-B-Que 2022

Sunday 24 July 2022 presented perfect weather for the Annual Family Bar-B-Que held this year at St Edward's Church, Sutton Park, Guildford. The day was pleasantly warm and, happily, didn't reach the excessive temperatures of previous weeks.

There was a good turn-out with around 70 in attendance including: brothers, ladies, widows, family members and clergy. The event commenced with guest speaker Katy Slade who gave an interesting and informative talk on our President's Charity, Parkinson's UK.

Full credit must be given to all involved in the organisation of the family day: our President, Bro. Ian and our Vice-President Bro. Daniel Lintot and Snjezana. Indeed, to everyone who helped get the show on the road including the band of fit brothers who erected the marquee on the Saturday. There was also the organising and preparation of food, drinks and cooking equipment which ensured that everything was up and running on the day.

Music was provided by Anthony and Domitille Johnson members of the Farnham based Arc Band. They performed many well known songs together with others not so well known singing both in English and French.

It really was a most enjoyable day. Hopefully the spirit of the occasion is captured in the photographs below.
