Alternative Venues

For some time, certain Catenian events including Ladies Night and Clergy Night have been held at Guildford Rugby Club as opposed to our usual venue, Guildford Golf Club. The reason for this is that some of our events clash with ones being held by GGC. Also, GRC can cater for a greater numbers of diners than GGC which is a factor on many well attended functions.

We are fortunate to have two excellent venues at our disposal but we mustn't become complacent! We don't know what the future holds so, as your dutiful Blogmaster, I have taken it upon myself to research possible alternatives all of which are within easy travelling distance. Please see below several delightful discoveries.

This quaint hotel and restaurant in Wonersh specialises in Mexican food and beers. Having numerous outbuildings it can cater for up to 150 diners. However, please note that most of the seating is Al Fresco!

A typical Dish of the Day!
This restaurant in Chobham has a strong revolutionary Latin American influence with dishes from South America, Portugal, France and Spain. Enjoy a drink in the 'Che Guevara' bar, a few 'shots' of your favourite liquor maybe, before indulging yourself in the 'Fidel Castro-nomic' restaurant

Presently undergoing major refurbishment, this multi-cultural restaurant in Godalming plans to be open by early December and will operate a '3 sittings' dining system similar to that used by Butlins
A 'Shabby Chic' style oriental eatery tucked away in a quiet corner of Shalford. The small facade belies a large dining area which can seat 150 diners. A free taxi service is provided for local destinations. Beyond that it's £10.00 a mile!
This Michelin Star restaurant situated in the vibrant French quarter of Merrow is a real gem! An absolute must for those who appreciate fine cuisine and elegant wines. Having three floors it can comfortably accommodate parties of over 100 who are happy to share the one cloakroom/toilet which is in the basement.
Sadly, this former Indian restaurant in Milford, which has been featured in several TV food/dining programmes, recently suffered major fire damage but is hoping to be open before Christmas. I assume that's Christmas this year! The local press reported that the Chef made a Curry so hot that it caused the roof to catch fire. The poor chap was completely devastated by this tragedy because apart from the roof, the blaze badly singed his prized Poppadoms!
Goodness Gracious Me!
Are you going to the Circle meeting tonight dear? Yes and I'll take that plate of sandwiches with me if that's OK?
