Bro. Mervyn Burby gets the VC

No it's not a Victoria Cross, although we're sure Bro. Mervyn would be amongst the first into the affray! On Thursday
16th April at the AGM of Province 19 Golf Society, he was elected Vice Captain for 2015/16. This was in grateful
acknowledgement of Bro. Mervyn's support for the society over many years and reflects the high regard in which he
is held by the brothers. Unfortunately, Bro. Events Officer, Martin McHugh, was caught unawares so we have no
photographic record of the occasion. Our resident photographer, Bro. Chris Devereux, was urgently contacted in the
hope that he had a suitable photograph ideally with Bro. Mervyn holding a golf club or anything golf related. Bro. Chris
sent in several photographs of Bro. Mervyn in various scenarios and the chosen one is of him holding two of our Ladies!
Preferable to a golf club anyday! Don't you think?

APRIL 1ST CIRCLE MEETING

The April 1st meeting of the Guildford Circle heralded the end of the 2014/15 Catenian year and saw the installation of new Circle Officers. Notably; the outgoing VP, Bro. Greg Melly,  succeeds Bro. Kevin Deeming as President and the erstwhile Bro. Stephen Ballard, assumes the role of Vice President. Bro. Steve Rowden relieves the long suffering Bro. Dave Caush as Secretary and Bro. Guillermo Lopez takes on the mantle of Treasurer. Bro. Will O'Brien steps up to joint Marshall & Charity Officer whilst Bro. William D'Souza is the new Registrar. Bro. John Vickerman, the new Membership Officer, was not present believed to be lost in France and, if he ever returns, will be installed as Membership Officer at the May Circle meeting. After all the boring stuff was completed, the Circle witnessed the enrollment of Visiting Gentleman Andy Fogel into the Circle. Welcome Bro. Andy, you have joined a circle unlike any other!

By chance, the 1st April also happened to be Bro. Stephen's birthday. No Fooling!  Ever the prankster, Bro. Stephen had sent out a '12th hour' email declining the role of VP due to extreme business pressure. This was later revealed as an 'April  fool Spoof' much to the disappointment of all conerned. Indeed, Bro. President Greg, did a remarkable job of concealing his angst in the 2nd photograph below.
